Bogota Taxis

In Bogota there are tourism, urban public, intermunicipal and interdepartmental taxis. The cost of the cab service within the city is very economic and in a very good quality. The taxi also can be contracted per hours.

It is preferable to take the taxis that serve to the hotels or to ask for the service by telephone. It is recommendable not to take taxis in the street, particularly at night.

Within the taxi, in a visible place for the passenger, it must have an identification of the vehicle, driver name and a list that indicates the tariffs according to the bearing of units of the "Taximetro"(Device used it to control the race price), with his respective equivalence in COP(Colombian currency) ($). The transfers from and towards the airport, served during the night and the holidays and those that are asked for by telephone, have a surcharge. The trips outside the urban perimeter have an authorized surcharge.

Bogota counts on near 47,000 taxis, with card of effective operation, that make 343,000 trips daily. The tariff of the service this determining by units

hey -

albin here from california, wondering what you know about Enrique Peñalosa,

i just read this about him

Peñalosa also led efforts to improve Bogotá's marginal neighborhoods through citizen involvement; planted more than 100,000 trees; created a new, highly successful bus-based transit system; and turned a deteriorated downtown avenue into a dynamic pedestrian public space. He helped transform the city's attitude from one of negative hopelessness to one of pride and hope, developing a model for urban improvement based on the equal rights of all people to transportation, education, and public spaces.

"I was almost impeached for getting cars off sidewalks which car owning upper classes had illegally appropriated for parking." -- Enrique Peñalosa

I am doing a story for my magazine for and would like to get some photos of this area, to show the progress that has been made.
would you happen to have, or be able to take some?
